The Power Within Us!

THE POWER WITHIN US
Fools are the ones, who think they are weak
And in such ignorance let the time of their life leak
Look within ourselves to find
An immense power hidden within our mind

Behind the walls of skull there resides a treasure
Whose power when learnt is beyond human measure
Our mind is created as an image of god
Only through which we can seek the supreme lord

Such power if left unused is life’s mock
Failing to find the key that opens heaven’s lock
Without perceiving truth, in darkness you will dwell
Deaf to summons given by angel’s bell

Many astray searching for divinity outside
When god himself is standing beside
And if you realize this you can bring a change
By the power within, that’s unique and strange

To acquire the skills of mind one should train
By learning the holy truth, knowledge itself will rain
But the one’s still unaware when death gives its final kiss
Have their souls falling into blackness filled abyss

God is what, that we are not
But the light can only be brought
By realizing the truth that god is within us
Unknowingly on god’s name man makes so much fuss

In many forms god does descend
For their own names many religions defend
For them god exists in the only way they have thought
This notion keeps them blind and truth cannot be sought

The enlightened ones know the only way
I hope the truth will illuminate on us one day
Let’s wait for that day hoping it will come soon
Till then admire the sky filled with stars and our moon

The Gambler's Night

The dictionary defines gambler as a person who is willing to take the risk in hope of a desired result. A risk-taker is a gambler. A gambler doesn't necessarily meet success every time. Loss is always expected; the undesired result. It was sometime during the month of May, summer vacations were on but Sainik school had called back its pupils for early onset of classes. The campus was empty except for the final year batch. The city of Bijapur bathed in the intense heat of blazing sun. The air near the surface of earth was so hot that it often resulted in mirages on the black velvety asphalt road. The days were hot; the nights brought relief with occasional rains and cool breeze. Devouring of the Moon

It was night, not particularly dark. One could say it was a grey night, definitely not a black night.  The crescent moon provided ample moonlight and the twinkling stars canvassed the night sky.  Darkness was further dispelled by rebounded street lights from afar. It was like any other night, nothing particularly charming or mysterious about it.  Hameed was lying on his back in the sand. He had just finished his supper that his mom had prepared. It was a everyday supper. Naan bread, lamb curry and lemon pickles. He lay there  looking at the crescent moon that appeared like it was hinged on some invisible cosmic thread.  In fact, he wasn't paying much attention to it. It was as if he was looking through it to something beyond. For a long time Hameed sat there ruminating about the game of marbles he had lost with Asif during the break hours of the school.
