A murder in cold blood An act of extreme violence Everyone stood still and watched A man dying in complete silence The murdere looked around The victim lay motionless on the ground His eyes showed no remorse nor fear He didn’t care if this act could bring smear His hand held a scimitar dripping blood The dead body had none to enshroud He walked through crowd, not in haste The dripping blood was all he wanted to taste Everyone stood still, head held low Except a child who didn’t lower his gaze His fists tightened, his eyes glowed with anger People around him held him from moving any longer When the murderer left People came together and wept Some came ahead and buried the dead Everyone retreated to save their own head Storm and rain embrace the night The child awake remembering the dreadful sight He wondered why none came ahead to stop The terrible crime committed in daylight The sheriff’s came but everyone kept quiet

The Gambler's Night

The dictionary defines gambler as a person who is willing to take the risk in hope of a desired result. A risk-taker is a gambler. A gambler doesn't necessarily meet success every time. Loss is always expected; the undesired result. It was sometime during the month of May, summer vacations were on but Sainik school had called back its pupils for early onset of classes. The campus was empty except for the final year batch. The city of Bijapur bathed in the intense heat of blazing sun. The air near the surface of earth was so hot that it often resulted in mirages on the black velvety asphalt road. The days were hot; the nights brought relief with occasional rains and cool breeze.
