Mahatma: The Undaunted spirit
The greatest man of our generation
We all render him with great devotion
His greatest weapon was nonviolence
With which he demolished British in silence

He won half the battle with non-cooperation
It became tough for British to handle the situation
With Dandi march he broke the salt laws
Which he had found unfair and full of flaws

Gandhi was many times jailed
But his mission never failed
He was barrister by profession
But nation building became his obsession

He led a very simple life
With Kasturba, a very supportive wife
Satyagraha was his greatest invention
This became the symbol of new revolution

But the victory didn’t give him satisfaction
As India had to undergo partition
No doubt, he is the strongest man
Let’s follow his ideals as much as we can!

Well this is my second poem , i mean  my very second poem . it was way back in 2007 , after this poem , the poet in me was ignited  and i feel very happy when i read this poem

The Gambler's Night

The dictionary defines gambler as a person who is willing to take the risk in hope of a desired result. A risk-taker is a gambler. A gambler doesn't necessarily meet success every time. Loss is always expected; the undesired result. It was sometime during the month of May, summer vacations were on but Sainik school had called back its pupils for early onset of classes. The campus was empty except for the final year batch. The city of Bijapur bathed in the intense heat of blazing sun. The air near the surface of earth was so hot that it often resulted in mirages on the black velvety asphalt road. The days were hot; the nights brought relief with occasional rains and cool breeze. It was not an ordinary night. It was raining hard and fast and it made a rhythmic sound as it splashed on the window panes. Devouring of the Moon

It was night, not particularly dark. One could say it was a grey night, definitely not a black night.  The crescent moon provided ample moonlight and the twinkling stars canvassed the night sky.  Darkness was further dispelled by rebounded street lights from afar. It was like any other night, nothing particularly charming or mysterious about it.  Hameed was lying on his back in the sand. He had just finished his supper that his mom had prepared. It was a everyday supper. Naan bread, lamb curry and lemon pickles. He lay there  looking at the crescent moon that appeared like it was hinged on some invisible cosmic thread.  In fact, he wasn't paying much attention to it. It was as if he was looking through it to something beyond. For a long time Hameed sat there ruminating about the game of marbles he had lost with Asif during the break hours of the school.
