Birthday Bumps
Birthday bumps
It is 12 pm at the night but you are
still awake. You are frequently glancing at your cell phone screen waiting for
a call. It’s your Birthday and you eagerly wait for a call from a special
person probably your beloved. Sometimes you even won’t receive few calls because
you really want that first call to be of your beloved (if he/she does exist).
Any way you get your first wishes you are happy and you just can’t hide that
smile on your face. All is well, you
feel you are the hero of the day and then as you get back to your room you
already know that your friends have planned a surprise for you. So you walk in
suppressing that big smile. The lights are off, as you enter inside, your
friends shout “Happy Birthday” the lights come on and there is verve in the
air. They show you the Big Chocolate cake with your nick name on it and you just
can’t resist yourself from the temptation to cut and take a big bite of it. You
have the knife and you slowly proceed to cut the cake, you blow away the
candles and slice the cake, your friends grab that piece and stuff it in our
mouth. One after other all of your friends come and fill your mouth with cake,
by then you would be under an overdose of a chocolaty sweetness. But good
things do come with something attached to them. No matter how seriously you
deny your friends from applying the cream on your face you just can’t stop them.
Your face is covered in cream. Then there is something special awaiting you;
this is something in which your friends take the most pleasure and you take all
the pains.
It’s time for birthday bumps. Before you realize you are already
lifted by some 3 -4 hefty guys and before you can prepare yourself your ass
gets bombarded by kicks. One after the other your friends come and they just
kick you right there on your bumps. All you can do is shouting. And they really
have a very funny reason for this. They say it is a way of showing love but by
inflicting the pain. Well you just can’t argue for that point because you might
have probably done the same on someone else’s birthday. But today is your turn.
Your bum is kicked and it is kicked hard but you just got to enjoy that feeling
because it is something you don’t get every day.
It’s a rare thing that happens
once a year and when it does the pain is all yours and pleasure is all theirs.
They laugh and in return you smile. That’s the sweetness of birthday bumps. But
there are few who just use it as the best reason for kicking you but, butt never
mind. All you got to do is to keep your bumps tight no matter who kicks it. Remember
the first time when you were born probably your mother would have gone through
lot of pains. So on every birthday if at all you get birthday bumps receive
them to celebrate the pain. The sweetness is embedded within the pain and you
got to find it.
SOME FACTS FROM OUR VERY OWN WIKIPEDIA:
“The Bumps", a torment common in
countries such as the U.K., Ireland, and the U.S, involves the friends and family of the
person whose birthday it is taking him or her by the arms and legs, and
"bumping" him/her up into the air and down onto the floor. The number
of "bumps" given equals the age of the person in years plus one
"for luck". Usually "the Bumps" are
administered only to children, in part because as people grow up they become
too heavy for the process.
In Francophone Canada and the U.S.
"birthday punches" are given in a similar fashion, where the person
whose birthday it is punched a number of times equal to his/her age, plus one
for luck. In Brazil, Hungary,
Argentina, Italy, and other countries, the person has his/her earlobes pulled. The Hungarian tradition also involves
at the same time as pulling the earlobes wishing the person a happy birthday or
reciting a rhyme whose English translation is "God bless you, live so long
so your ears reach your ankles.".
In India, a
person on his birthday is held up in the air by his hands and legs by his
friends (usually not in the presence of their family), and kicked or spanked on
the buttocks. It is referred to as 'Birthday Bumps'. The number of bumps given
equals the age of the person but usually ends up exceeding that number.
