Signature Wit #4 - Facts and Bits of Wisdom

Trivia's are a thing of joy! Following is the collection of few publish worthy facts and pieces of wisdom collected from various sources or discovered through rare encounters of serendipity Don't burn the books When the Nazi party held its first book burning one of the works destroyed was a 1821 play by Heinrich Heine containing the famous line:  "Where they burn books, they will also in the end burn the people" -   “Dort, wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man am Ende auch Menschen" Captain Vyom The terms astronauts and cosmonauts are pretty popular. The former is associated with space travelers of USA and the latter is associated with those of Soviet Union and the Russia. But the lesser know variants are as follows: The Chinese call their space explorers as Taikonauts or Yuhangyuns The French call them Spationauts The Indian equivalent chosen by ISRO is VYOMANAUT VYOM is a sanskrit word for SPACE Following names were considered an...

Signature Wit #3 - Short Poems & Snippets

Image
The core idea to have this blog was to publish my poems. There came a time when I ceased writing them, may be I ran out of ideas or I really lost the knack of doing that - I am not sure. But it never completely eluded me, I kept writing short snippets now and then so, even though there was discontinuity but the connection was not lost.  Here is a collection of few of them, some are my own and others are something that I have picked up because I really liked them. Arabian Nights Intro Oh I come from a land, from a faraway place Where the caravan camels roam Where they cut off your ear If they don't like your face It's barbaric, but hey, it's home  When the wind's from the east And the sun's from the west And the sand in the glass is right Come on down Stop on by Hop a carpet and fly To another Arabian night On Love - By Kabir प्रीत न कीजिये पंछी जैसी, जल सूखे उड जाय! प्रीत तो कीजिये मछली जैसी, जल सूखे मर जाय! My Signature Wit#2 - Observations

Once Sherlock told to his best friend Dr Watson - "You see, but you do not observe" We all see, we keep saying and most times do nothing. Every moment keeps passing like a film roll, things keep happening and we keep munching pop corns. I have seen many things too. There are moments when you see something and it distracts you from just seeing it. This distraction is pivotal for making an observation. An observation is an additional layer to seeing it. Observation is a reaction, a mental one.  Below is collection of such discontinuous observations that I had from time to time. Spider Man's Hindi Poster The English poster of Spiderman 2 said -"His Greatest Battle Begins" The same thing in Hindi was written -  "Jab sab dushman honge viruddh Woh karega jeevan aur maut ka Yuddh" In Hindi - सारे दुश्मन होंगे विरूद्ध वो करेगा जीवन मौत का युद्ध Now you call it stupidity or creativity? Office Cabs Office cabs are like single seaters  one seat ...

My Signature Wit #1

My signature wit, in a classic retrofit! This series is to bring together my various Facebook posts that I have published over the years when I have been distant from blogging platform. This series will eventually also contain some original source material which isn't / will not be posted on my Facebook wall. The contents of this series would be my one point stop of my various views, burrowed quote and fascinating facts that I have managed to know and acquire over the past few years. I will include the good ones, the bad ones, the embarrassing ones - everything under one umbrella here. This series will contain a multitude of disconnected topics ranging across various genres because I have kept scribbling wherever my interests and curiosity have pulled me along. I may restructure few of the already published articles/quotes - to add clarity, correct grammar and also to add any changes in opinion in case they have perforated due to my constant reading endure. So, feel free t...

Colors of Love

Image
The Typed Version Follows Colors of Love My red Porsche  And her golden bracelet Walking through the meadows When the sky is violet My green Dodge Viper And her aqua blue eyes We have locked each other in a stare Now her eyes have a luminous orange flare My white Lamborghini And her red nail polish She tells me, she loves me In French, German and Spanish I've put these toys in backyard She has stowed away all her glitz I lit a fire, and call her my heart's desire She stops the dryer, and calls me a liar But she knows its true; believes it too Why else my name would be her tattoo? Inky blue night surrounds us There is now a music of silence It's true, love can grow Without any eloquence No words are spoken; still everything is told True love is like that, it never gets old Every morning is new When I wake up with you Let's add some filters  And make these sunrises of any hue The flow of your silky black hair The ...
